Charo’s 2011 single, "Sexy Sexy," was originally written by her son Shel Rasten for Britney Spears. Charo told Cape Cod Times at the time that she heard Shel playing "Sexy Sexy" when she came over to visit him. She heard the song and suggested she use it instead of Spears.

She later told Oprah, “He [gave] it to me and became a huge hit and he’s getting a lot of royalty because of ‘Sexy Sexy’ so don’t complain,” she shared.
