Charo and the Sergeant was a 1976 television pilot starring Charo as Charo Palmer and Tom Lester as her husband, Sergeant Hank Palmer. It was written by Aaron Ruben, directed by John Rich, and also featured Noam Pitlik as Sgt. Turkel and Dick Van Patten in the role of a chaplain.
The show centers on the adjustments and conflicts that arise when an energetic entertainer (Charo) marries a U.S. Marine sergeant and becomes a military spouse. “Charo’s first U.S. job is to be a dancer at an off‑limits nightclub, and her conservative Marine Corps husband finds out.”
The pilot was not picked up as a series, though the taped episodes were broadcast overseas via the American Armed Forces Network.
